پاپیه ماشه هو فی الأصل کلمة فرنسیة تعنی الورق مضغوط ( پاپیه یعنی ورقة و ماشه یعنی مضغوط والسبب فی تسمیة ذلک هو

أن ورقة عجین مخلوط با غراء وتحت الضغط لإنشاء البنیة التحتیة للعمل .

لتورید ورقة ضیقة پاپیه ماشه والتی یمکن استخدامها لصنع العناصر أولاً ، غمسوا قطعًا من الورق غیر المقشر على الجانبین باستخدام الغراء وهم یلتفون حولها . ثم توضع فی قوالب الصلب لتجف عند 100 درجة فهرنهایت . المنتج الذی تم الحصول علیه لدیه مقاومة عالیة للرطوبة . یستخدم هذا الفن فی النحت ، صنع القلم ، إطار القرآن وغطاء الکتاب
