فی صناعة المعرق على الخشب ، فإنهم یرسمون الطرح لأول مرة على قطعة من الورق . أو طباعته والتشبث بخلفیة خشبیة ثم قطعه إلى عدة أجزاء مع سدادة . ثم تسمى القطع التی تم الحصول علیها أیضًا بشبلون . على العمل الرئیسی انهم العصا . فی هذه المرحلة ، یحتاج الفنان إلى الألوان اللازمة لهذا المشروع . یختار بین الخشب الملون . وهم یقطعونهم إلى حجم الشبلون . ووضعها على السطح الرئیسی للعمل .
